How is abortion seen in the eyes of God?

The issue of abortion has always been very controversial and debated.  Throughout history, governments have sometimes spoken for or against this practice. However, regardless of the decisions of governments, abortion has been practiced in the past and is still often accepted and tacitly practiced by people, sometimes for trivial reasons, sometimes for more serious reasons, such as when pregnancy is the result of rape. But how is abortion seen in the eyes of God? In cases of particular gravity, is abortion acceptable and justifiable?
