Mystic Nature painting, made by artist Barbara Stamegna

Is what we think about people and things always true?

In our everyday lives, we interpret and judge the situations we experience, the people we meet, what is said or done to us, creating our own opinion about the people around us, and the things that we live. But does our opinion coincide with reality? Is what we think about people and things always true? The truth is that most of the time, the reality is not as we think it is. But why does this happen? Why is reality never what it appears to be, but on the contrary is very different from what one assumes?

“Because what is deduced by the mind is not what is real, but on the contrary there is a construction of mental connections that lead, starting however from real data, to construct unprovable hypotheses and theorems.  These mental preconceptions, that are only the result of one’s previous experiences, decisively influence one’s view of reality. In practice you indulge your mind and do not abstain, not relying on real data but constructing a series of hypotheses.”
